PROPOLIS - WHAT IS IT?

What is Propolis?
NATURE'S POWERFUL PROTECTOR

Bee Propolis is a powerhouse of natural protection. Made by bees from plant resins and beeswax, propolis is used to seal, protect and sterilise the beehive. It acts as the immune defence mechanism for the whole hive and protects against invaders and infection.

Propolis is the bodyguard of the beehive, and it can be yours too. It's been used as a traditional health product for centuries, and modern science confirms that the protective properties of propolis have significant benefits for human health.

THE POWER OF NEW ZEALAND PROPOLIS

The quality and potency of propolis depends on the country and plants it comes from.
New Zealand’s unique environment and climate means New Zealand Propolis is of superior purity and quality, and has exceptionally high levels of protective active compounds (bioactives).
Not all Propolis is equal

The protective power of propolis comes from the bioactives. Propolis products claiming only the amount of raw propolis with no mention of bioactives tell you nothing about the strength of the product. Raw propolis contains a lot of wax and impurities and may have very low levels of bioactives.

Look for propolis that certifies the amount of bioactives on the label (flavonoids and caffeates are the important ones).

Be confident you're getting the real deal
Each jar has a Trust Code - a unique QR code links to that exact jar of honey’s ‘birth certificate’. So no matter where you are in the world you can check right away that your jar of Manuka honey is verified as authentic.

Every batch of our Manuka honey is ‘fingerprinted’ by scientific traceability company Oritain. This means that we can trace any jar of our Manuka honey back to its true origin and confirm it's genuine.

Our Manuka honey is independently tested to rigorous industry standards (set by the New Zealand Government), ensuring each batch is guaranteed to be genuine New Zealand Manuka honey. Only honey that meets these standards can be certified for export and labelled as New Zealand Manuka honey.

Mānuka Health - Leaders in Propolis science

BIO New Zealand Propolis has our researchers pretty excited by its potential for human health. Working with leading scientists, our research has identified the most powerful bioactives responsible for the impressive immune support and antioxidant properties of New Zealand Propolis.

BIO New Zealand Propolis is the only propolis tested and certified for these key bioactives (to get technical, we’re talking about 16 specific bioactive flavonoids and caffeates that have been shown to be active in the body).

Quality, Purity & Potency Guaranteed
We're experts at making honey. The rich flavour, smooth texture and exceptional properties of our honey is thanks to the collective efforts and close care of our bees, beekeepers, and honey experts throughout the entire process.

UMF & MGO Certification gives the ultimate assurance of quality and potency. Not all Manuka honey is high in MGO (the ingredient that makes Manuka honey so special). The MGO & UMF numbers tell you how much MGO is in the honey and help you choose the right grade for your needs.

Our hives are placed in wild pristine areas with very little risk of contaminants in the environment. But to be absolutely certain we routinely test for pesticides and herbicides including glyphosate residues, and every batch is triple tested to make sure our honey is always of the highest quality and purity.
